BAFTA-nominated actor Maureen Lipman stars as an agony aunt with problems of her own in this daringly risque 1970s sitcom. Co-starring Simon Williams, Bill Nighy, Please Sir‘s Peter Denyer and Dear John‘s Peter Blake, Agony was based on the experiences of real-life “Agony Aunt” Anna Raeburn and deftly trod a sharp line of black humour throughout its three series.
Agony aunt Jane Lucas runs the problem page for Person magazine alongside her own radio phone-in programme. But while Jane’s life is devoted to solving other people’s problems, she often finds it far too difficult to solve her own!
